Lesson 2 of 4 · 20 min
Your project and your college
Most college projects are owned under the institution's IP policy, often jointly with the students and guide. Read the policy; ask your IP coordinator. Joint ownership is normal and workable — what matters is that it is written down before filing.
What to collect now: a dated project report, your lab notebook or logbook, photos of the prototype, test data, and the list of who did what.
Then: complete your community profile, submit the idea under your college's IP Cell, and wait for the professional review. The review tells you honestly whether a patent, design, copyright or no filing is the right route.
