Commercialisation: licensing, selling, building, partnering
A granted patent is a right to exclude others; it earns nothing by itself. Routes to value:
- Build: make and sell the product yourself (needs capital and operations).
- License: let a company make and sell it for a royalty or lump sum; exclusive or non-exclusive; by territory and field of use.
- Assign: sell the right outright.
- Partner: joint development, sponsored research, pilot projects, industry–academia collaboration.
- Adopt a Patent / Adopt an Innovator: the community's structured routes where an organisation sponsors development, employs the innovator, or licenses the technology — each arrangement is defined in writing.
Preparing to talk to a partner: a non-confidential one-page summary (the approved public summary), evidence of stage (prototype, pilot data), clear ownership, and the status of protection (application pending vs granted — never blur the two).
IP BANK India is MYCrave's commercialisation arm: listings, licensing introductions and technology transfer. Opportunities in the community that lead to licensing are connected there.
